Conan O’Brien Releases Two New Albums
by Claudine Zap If you’re suffering from a Conan O’Brien deficiency — his new show on TBS won’t be on the air until November — then two new recordings from Coco should do the trick. Back when the talk-show host left his ” Tonight Show ” gig and then was barred from being on the air waves, Conan and his merry band of performers launched a comedy tour. The red-headed funny guy made a special trip to Third Man Studios in Nashville last June to treat his fans to a concert with his Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour band and The White Stripes’ Jack White . Covers of of Elvis Presley’s “Blue Moon,” the Stray Cats’ “Rock This Town,” and a spoof of Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” (“Can’t wait till I get my show again”), can now be heard on the album, ” Conan O’Brien Live at Third Man ,” which is actually a real album . If you prefer to take in the comedian doing his whacky thing, then you’ll want to hear the recording of an improvised spoken-word take on the Frankenstein story ” And They Call Me Mad? ” You can catch a snippet of madman O’Brien here . Spin magazine calls it ” Nothing other than totally awesome .” The B side features Jack White’s interview with Conan. The Conan-ification of the story will be on iTunes next week . This week, an NFL star announced, to equal parts joy and groans, that he would be coming back for his 20th season. And word broke that a sitcom legend would be back on prime time next season. Check out these stories and more with the Buzz Week in Review. Favre comes back. Again. If anyone needs to reread the fable of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” it’s Brett Favre . After leaving many wonderng if he would return to the Minnesota Vikings , Favre announced that he’ll be back for another season (his 20th, for those keeping track). You’d think fans would get a little tired of the flip-flopping, but Brett was one of the biggest stories of the week. Web searches for ” brett favre unretires ” surged over 600%, and related lookups for ” brett favre jersey ” and ” brett favre vikings ” also posted big gains. The decision had an immediate affect on ticket prices for the Vikings games. At a press conference , Favre remarked that he “owe(s) it to this organization to give it one more try” to win a Super Bowl. He also said that this season will be his last . That’s easy to mock, but when you consider that Favre could earn up to $28 million in 2010 , it becomes a lot easier to understand his reluctance to walk away. Crazy like a Fox Michael J.
