The creators of ” The Social Network ,” the movie about the rise of Facebook, took that mantra to heart. Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg calls the movie fiction . The filmmakers don’t disagree. The film has little concern for accuracy, and it doesn’t really pretend to. Critics don’t seem to mind, either. The film is earning raves. The movie, directed by David Fincher, tells the tale of the rise of Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg ), from insecure but brilliant geek to boy billionaire. His motivation and muse, the movie would have us believe, is a young woman named Erica Albright, played by Rooney Mara . Web searches on “rooney mara pictures” and “rooney mara bio” are both through the roof. Online lookups for the actress have soared more than 3,000% over the past seven days. Mara will also star as the title character in the upcoming Hollywood remake of ” Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ,” also directed by Fincher. The director is clearly a fan . When asked about Mara, he said, “She’s smart and capable and works really hard. She is ridiculously photogenic in a very interesting way — she can be plain, or she can be exquisite in a matter of moments — and she’s a great listener.” Interestingly, Web searches on Mara’s “Social Network” character are also roaring. CAUGHT ON CAM: Puppies Abandoned
JASPER, Alabama – The abandonment of six puppies outside the Walker County Humane Society was captured on surveillance video. The unidentified man later returned to the shelter to explain his actions. Animal abandonment is considered a misdemeanor in Alabama, but people are rarely prosecuted. Animal shelter officials say they review surveillance videos all the time, but this is the first time Walker County Humane Society has posted a video on the Internet. Surveillance video posted on YouTube shows a man pull up to the Walker County Humane Society in his truck. He arrives around 6:30 p.m. on September 20 , two hours after the shelter has closed for the evening. The unidentified man scouts the premises for the best place to leave the dogs, then takes each one by the scruff of the neck around the side of the building. After unloading all the puppies, he gets back in his truck and pulls away. The tiny dogs scramble underneath his wheels as he drives off. Four of the six dogs were found in the parking lot the next morning by shelter workers. Two of the dogs were never found. The most heartbreaking part of the video is the fact that similar incidents occur almost every day. The shelter’s Executive Director decided to post the video on YouTube. She said she didn’t do this to vilify the man, but rather to show the public how often animal abandonment occurs. Dozens of angry comments forced the man out of hiding yesterday. Passengers Capture Emergency Landing on iPhones
NEW YORK – These days everyone seems to have a cell phone camera, and they’re documenting even their potential demise. CNN’s Jeanne Moos reports on the sounds of a scary landing. Passengers Alessandro Albero and Chase Benzeberg recently caught their emergency landing on their iPhones. The sparks shown on a video are coming from the wings scraping the runway after the landing gear didn’t properly deploy. This isn’t the first emergency landing caught on tape by passengers. The flight attendant chants are almost identical from airline to airline. One plane shown in the video landed in Washington after its front tire blew. Passengers have recorded oxygen masks deployed and even plane evacuations. The most recent video of the Delta emergency landing included the incredibly calm warning from the pilot as he said, “Brace for impact” over the loudspeaker. Alessandro Albero and Chase Benzeberg didn’t think they were going to die while they recorded their smartphone videos. They also captured the applause during the aftermath. Passengers are shown hugging the pilot. As the video flew around the web, it sparked a minor debate. Some applauded the flight attendant for doing her job and repeating her instructions. Others thought she was “nerve-wracking”, saying, “If the last voice I heard on earth was that one, I’d be one very annoyed dead guy.”
