With so many businesses investing in both social media and online content marketing, you’d think more of them would take time to strategically connect the two. However, I’ve come across several brands lately that invest time and resources in writing great content to share on their blog, but don’t know how to drive traffic to their site through social media, specifically Twitter.
If your business invests in writing in maintaining a blog, but hasn’t been able figure out how to drive traffic through Twitter, it’s not too late. Here’s a step-by-step guide to successfully driving traffic to your blog with Twitter:
1. Make your website social-friendly. The quickest and easiest way to drive traffic to your blog with Twitter, or any other social media channel, is to have a social-media friendly site. Make sure readers can not only connect to your social media channels, but easily share your blog posts with the click of a button. There are several widgets you can download to help your readers “share” or “Tweet” the content you’re writing.
2. Share your blog posts on Twitter. This may seem like an obvious one, but you’d be surprised how many brands don’t share their blog posts on Twitter once they publish them.
3. Share some more. One of the fundamental mistakes most brands that do share their blog posts with Twitter is that they only share it once. The problem is that Twitter is such a rapid stream of content that a majority of your audience probably won’t see your tweet if you only share once. Typically, we suggest that brands share their blog posts on Twitter two to three times during the first 48 hours after an item published. Don’t forget to repurpose those old blog posts, too.
