The 2012 Ford Police Interceptor unveiled today is the latest in a long line of Ford squad cars. Here's why the sight of even a civilian Crown Vic now induces Pavlovian application of brakes in all motorists. More
When Wired.com's Autopia recently chose a list of ten perfect snowpocalypse vehicles, the site's readers howled in protest. After enduring a pummeling over their choices, the staff invited those readers to come up with their own list. Here it is. More
This is it — the Cadillac CTS-V Wagon — fully unmasked at a marketing photo shoot. It's the stretched-out high-power people-hauler every automotive journalist has been waiting for. Let's just go ahead and call it the Cadillac of awesome. Of course we expect the CTS-V Wagon will come equipped with the same 550 HP+ 6.2-liter LSA engine as it's sedan and coupe brothers. Frankly, what more do we need to know? The fact that we have a real picture of this vehicle we never thought would see the light of day is the only news we need to read. Do want. So what if Bob Lutz is gone. His legacy lives on. Click on the shot above for a bigger, more in-your-face look at the CTS-V Wagon.

The Bentley Continental Flying Star wasn't built by Bentley, but rather Italian coachbuilder Touring Superleggera for a customer with exceptionally good taste and a need to haul golf clubs at 200 MPH. Based on the Bentley Continental GTC convertible because of its re-inforced chassis and lower body, Touring Superlegerra grafted on the roof, elongated the doors and fitted a new electric-opening hatch. The rear seats were retained, but fold down to increase load space. The company says its owner will use the three-door 560 HP W12 to "join hunting parties" and go golfing. After this first customer, Touring Superleggera plans to produce 20 more cars at the totally reasonable sum of $800,000. Don't want to have the same car as the Sheikh next door? They'll basically build anything you want. Photo Credit: Autogespot
Most smartphones have one or two great cooking apps, and while using your pocketable device to help out in the kitchen can be more convenient than finding a place for your laptop or wasting paper, smart-home blog Unplggd has a clever suggestion: Our new apartment has some pretty archaic kitchenware. So old, we can't quite figure out how to use the timer on the oven. While we could just look at the clock and determine how long something needs to be on the stovetop or in the cooker, we tend to get distracted easily and realize only too late that we've been cooking for too long. In order to keep from burning all our meals we now use an iPod Touch and a car mount. It's sort of like a tinkering third hand but for the kitchen. I particularly love the previously mentioned Epicurious app for iPhone/iPod touch, and I could absolutely see using something like this in the kitchen. Infiniti's 5-series rival used to be a nice, but anonymous car. After hooning it through Southern California's canyons, that's no longer the case. Now, the 2011 Infiniti M is Japan's Jaguar. Full Disclosure: Infiniti wanted us to drive the new M so badly they flew us out to San Diego, put us up in a fancy hotel and hired one of GQ's top ten sommeliers to serve us fancy wine. I thought the Viognier was pretty acidic and wasn't terribly impressed with the Pinot Noir either. Maybe we shouldn't believe everything you read in magazines. Nissan's luxury brand has always been a second rate player in some of the most competitive vehicle classes in the world. They want to be BMW, but basing cars on the front-wheel drive Maxima platforms was never going to get them there. Then, starting with the 2009 G37 Sedan and more recently the Coupe and 2009 G37 Convertible , Infiniti suddenly became competitive. You don't need to make excuses for Infiniti's latest generation of cars. And you definitely don't need to make excuses for the new M. The V6-engined 2011 Infiniti M37 is more powerful, lighter and cheaper than either the 2011 BMW 535i or the 2010 Mercedes E350. The 5.6-liter naturally aspirated V8 in the 2011 Infiniti M56 makes 420bhp and 417 Lb-Ft and weighs 4,028 Lbs. Compare that to the twin-turbo 2011 BMW 550i and its 407 HP, 442 Lb-Ft and 4,200 Lbs. It's actually the lighter 2011 Infiniti M37S that we prefer driving. You can feel that it's 170 Lbs lighter in the nose, leading to greater agility and lighter steering. Both the 37S and 56S are fitted with an active rear-wheel steering system that can turn the rear wheels into a corner by up to one degree. In action, it settles the rear as the car steers into a corner, which allows the car to steer faster. This isn't just an on-paper gimmick either, you can feel the rear tucking itself in as you steer aggressively into a corner. ...

A female spectator was killed Sunday during the NHRA Arizona Nationals when Antron Brown's Top Fuel dragster went out of control and struck the opposite lane wall and broke apart, sending a rear tire into the crowd. Video below. The accident occurred when Brown's car went out of control half way down the strip at Firebird International Raceway, crossed lanes and smashed into the retaining wall. Wacky Packages have been around for more than 40 years now (the '73 reissue of the first series that got me hooked as a first-grader), and plenty of the stickers were gearhead-centric. Now you can get 'em seven feet tall! Yes, a bunch of freaks in Philly are making self-adhesive plastic reproductions of classic Wacky Packages, in sizes that range from "make your laptop look ridiculous" to "make your living room look ridiculous." You can read the press release or go right to the LTL site to learn more. This is some good stuff, featuring artwork by such heavyweights as Drew Friedman , Bill Griffith , and Art Spiegelman . Murilee says check it out! [ LTL Prints ]
